What to expect
at your appointment
Your Skinscape 360 appointment is simple, quick, and fully guided.
You’ll change into underwear or a bikini and be positioned comfortably in front of the imaging system. The scan itself takes just a second. There’s no contact, no radiation, and nothing enclosed or invasive.
You’ll see some bright flashes as the images are captured all at once. Once they’re checked for quality, you’re free to get dressed. If you’ve booked a full skin check, this will either happen on the same day or be arranged shortly later.
Our team explains what’s happening as you go – so you always know what to expect.
- No make up to be worn
- Remove jewelry where possible
- Wear brief underwear or a bikini (No boxer shorts if possible), neutral colours only
- Long hair to be tied in bun, please bring a hair tie
- Men with a lot of body hair – recommend clipping it to allow the scanner cameras to see through to underlying skin.
- The imaging procedure will be explained & you will be asked to sign a consent form
- You will be asked to remove your outer clothing including jewellery and glasses
- The photographer will place you in the correct position in front of the cameras and take the image of you in your underwear
- There will be a number of bright flashes as the images are captured
- Once the photographer has checked the images the 3D avatar will be made
- You will then either:
- Proceed to a full body examination by Clare, our Chief Dermoscopist
- Have repeat imaging if not clear
- Be free to go if you have finished the capture and follow up will be
arranged with your referring Skin Specialist - Skinscape 360 uses advanced total body imaging to support the early
detection of skin cancers.
- Is there any radiation?
No, these images are taken with regular digital cameras - How long will I be standing in one position?
Usually less than 10 seconds - How long will the appointment take?
This can vary, allow 15 minutes if you do not have a skin check afterwards - Can I see my images?
Yes, at the next appointment with your referring doctor or you can access them via our website patient portal.
How does our total body skin cancer scan work?
Skinscape 360 uses advanced total body imaging to support the early detection of most skin cancers.
“In just one second, the Vectra WB360 captures 92 high-resolution images of your skin and creates a precise 3D avatar or digital skin twin of your body. This allows skin cancer professionals to examine your skin from multiple angles, zoom in on individual lesions, and most importantly compare your skin over time with the aid of AI.
Tracking change is critical. Regular 3D scans help identify new or changing lesions that may signal skin cancer, including melanoma, basal cell carcinoma, and squamous cell carcinoma.
Artificial intelligence supports this process by helping highlight areas that look different and have changed over time. It’s used as an aid to clinical assessment, not a diagnosis tool for now. All findings are reviewed by qualified skin cancer professionals and used alongside a full clinical examination and dermoscopy.
Early detection matters. In melanoma, outcomes are strongly influenced by how deep a lesion has grown – known as Breslow thickness. By improving visibility and consistency, total body imaging helps clinicians make clearer, more confident decisions and avoid unnecessary biopsies.
Skinscape 360 isn’t only for people with a history of skin cancer. It’s also a valuable tool for proactive individuals who want to safeguard their skin health and catch potential issues early.
