Richard Martin
Associate Professor (Hon.)
Melanoma and Skin Cancer
Surgical Oncologist
Richard Martin
Associate Professor (Hon.) Richard Martin is New Zealand’s leading Melanoma Surgical Oncologist, treating all forms of melanoma nationwide and internationally. He manages over a 1000 melanoma and skin cancer cases each year, chairs Auckland Regional Melanoma Multidisciplinary meeting and sits on the executive committees of Melanoma New Zealand and until recently MELNET along with Melanoma and Skin Cancer Trials Group (MASC).
Richard is a New Zealand-trained General Surgeon who spent two and a half years at the Sydney Cancer Center, specialising in melanoma and head/neck/thyroid/parathyroid surgery. Most of his time was spent at the Sydney Melanoma Unit (now Melanoma Institute of Australia), the world’s largest treatment and research facility for melanoma.
While in Sydney, he completed a Master of Surgery in Surgical Oncology at the University of Sydney. As a Surgical Oncologist, Richard assesses, diagnoses and treats all forms of melanoma, skin and head/neck cancer. Richard publishes in numerous academic journals (50 plus), is a regular presenter at national and international conferences and is actively involved in research and clinical trials. He is also an Associate Professor (Honorary) at the University of Auckland.
In his spare time Richard is a fan of Formula One and is a Star Wars collector. His wife Geri and their 3 girls love to travel, have fun and keep him grounded!
Geri Martin
CEO Skinscape 360
Geri Martin
Born on Auckland’s North Shore, I began my career in the design and manufacturing garment industry, spending over 13 years building strong commercial and operational expertise.
I subsequently established The Specialists Takapuna, a practice supporting some of New Zealand’s leading surgical specialists.
In 2025, recognising a significant need for advanced skin cancer monitoring in New Zealand, I co-founded Skinscape 360 alongside my husband, Associate Professor Richard Martin. Together, we introduced the Vectra WB360 to New Zealand, integrating world-class imaging technology, AI innovation, and a highly skilled clinical team to deliver an exceptional standard of skin cancer care.
Outside of my professional commitments, I maintain a strong interest in design and value time spent with my husband, our three daughters, and extended family.
